What are the benefits of Invisalign treatment?

Straighten your teeth without unsightly orthodontic braces and metal wires. Invisalign uses almost invisible clear aligners that will not be noticeable to others. So you won’t have to feel self-conscious about smiling and talking with during treatment. This is one of the most popular features of Invisalign treatment.

There are several benefits of removable aligners. When eating and drinking, the aligners can be simply removed and then worn again after finished. It is also a lot easier to maintain good oral hygiene. Brushing and flossing of teeth can be carried out as you normally do without the hassle of things getting stuck on the metal wires.

Invisalign treatment is really easy and comfortable. You simply wear the aligners and that’s it. There’s never the risk of wires and brackets poking on your gums, lips and cheeks causing cuts or ulcers. Some mild discomfort is normal in the first few days after wearing a new aligner

With conventional metal braces, the wires need to be tightened every 4-6 weeks. With Invisalign, given that the treatment can be mapped out from the start, you can get given multiple aligners at the same time, meaning fewer visits to the dentist.

Invisalign’s innovative technology allows you to see the end result before you begin treatment.

6 Million Invisalign patients worldwide and counting. It is highly customisable with predictable results.

What can Invisalign correct

  • Crossbite: A crossbite is when one or more of your upper teeth are behind the lower teeth. This is not a natural position of your teeth and can cause tooth wear, bone loss around the misaligned tooth and localised gum problems.
  • Gapped teeth: Gaps between your front teeth can be unsightly as they are visible when speaking and smiling.
  • Deep Bite: A deep bite may irritate the gums that contact the teeth and cause more wear on the lower teeth. This may be associated with TMJ problems.
  • Crowded teeth: Crowded teeth can make people self-conscious about the appearance of their teeth. The severity of crowding can also worsen over time. Crowded teeth are often trickier to clean, with an increased amount of staining and tartar a common occurrence with crowded teeth.
  • Open bite: An open bite often negatively impacts your ability to chew adequately, and can cause speech impairment. There is also a greater risk of TMJ problems as a result of the open bite.

Invisalign FAQ

Although this is dependent on what treatment is required, the typical price range on Invisalign treatment is between £2000 to £3500. 0% interest finance option is available for Invisalign, spreading the cost into affordable monthly payments.

For the large majority of patients, their speech will not be affected. If there is some change to your speech, the difference is small, and your tongue quickly adapts, and speech returns to normal. This usually takes 7 to 10 days.

Contact your dentist straight away. Your dentist will be able to assist you in getting a replacement aligner so that treatment can continue without delay.

This depends on the individual undergoing the treatment and the complexity of the case. Attachments are small tooth-coloured buttons that are fixed to the teeth which assist in teeth movement. For some Invisalign treatments, attachments will be required. These are removed after completion.

Your aligners should be cleaned using a brush and lukewarm water every day. Remove before eating, and brush/floss your teeth before re-seating your aligners. A daily fluoride mouthwash would also be beneficial to maintain excellent hygiene.

Yes, retainers will be needed after treatment is complete after treatment to ensure relapse does not occur and your teeth do not move out of their new positions.  There are other options available too that you may discuss with your dentist.

This depends on the severity and complexity of the problem that needs to be resolved. Minor defects typically take 3-6 months to complete. More complex cases can take up to 15 months for completion.

In highly complex cases, dental braces are the only suitable orthodontic solution. It is important to carry out an assessment and discuss with your dentist if your problem can be best resolved with Invisalign.

It would be misleading to claim that Invisalign does not cause any discomfort at all. Any treatment that aims to move teeth will require to place a certain amount of pressure on teeth to achieve that movement. That pressure can result in some pain and discomfort. This is also the case with Invisalign, however, it is often for just a few days after placing a new set of aligners.

As with all our cosmetic treatment, 0% interest finance options are available. How much you pay monthly will depend on your total treatment cost and then time period over which the payment is spread.

Both traditional braces and Invisalign aligners move the visible tooth above the gum and the root under the gum. In the first 1-2 days after new aligners are worn, it is very normal for the teeth to feel a bit looser than normal. It is the normal pattern of teeth movement and happens with normal braces as well.

We advise wearing Invisalign aligners for a minimum of 22 hours per day. Aim to have them worn at all times, and just remove them when eating and drinking.

Yes, for best results the aligners are worn a minimum of 22 hours a day so you will need to wear them during sleep.

You may find that the aligners are tighter when you wear them again. If they fit but are just a bit tight, then you should be ok to continue. If you do not wear them as prescribed and then they do not fit back onto your teeth, you will need to visit your dentist and have new aligners made. Please note that there would be an additional charge to make these aligners.

The only drink that is acceptable to have whilst you are wearing your aligners is cold water. Alcohol and caffeinated drinks can easily stain the aligners, and hot drinks may warp the aligner and change its change which affects the results.

If for example, you’d like to have a coffee, we would advise you to remove the aligners, then gently brush your teeth after you’ve completed and then wear the aligners again.
